چکیده

We present a detailed examination of the dynamic access control challenges for a nomadic health grid with the aim of achieving optimal access rights for each of the involved principals. We derive general requirements for the expressiveness of access challenges and propose criteria for a more suitable access control mechanism in the context of nomadic health grid applications. The results are based on a hospital case study. It first provides an overview of requirements for access control in a hospital environment. We proceed by superposing the requirements resulting from each paradigm. Conflicts are solved by giving priority to the functional requirements. The paper further presents our initial results and briefly discusses how it meet the requirements.

Profiles for conveying the secure communication requirements of Web services

The lack of a single authority in the Grid environment is perhaps the biggest source of security and interoperability challenges faced by Grid systems designers. A strong commitment to meaningful, interoperable security is crucial for fostering Grid adoption and buy-in. The issues of securityinteroperability are twofold: (a) grids require federation of distinct trust and security domains, and (...

Guest Editors' Introduction: Wireless Grids--Distributed Resource Sharing by Mobile, Nomadic, and Fixed Devices

Mobile, nomadic, and fixed wireless devices form new types of resourcesharing networks called wireless grids.1 This issue of IEEE Internet Computing, beginning with our extended editorial introduction, presents an overview of current research in the area. We hope this issue of IC will serve to map the wireless grid landscape, to help others explore it in greater detail in the future. Grid compu...

Providing nomadic CORBA servers by integrating Π2 and FATIMA

This paper presents an efficient solution for the nomadic CORBA server problem. The generic CORBA proxy platform Π2 provides efficient and transparent nomadic access to existing applications by offering a hand-over between different network types, optimized transport protocols for the wireless access, and application-specific compression. Up to now, Π2 was missing nomadic server functions. FATI...

Study on a Secure Access Model for the Grid Catalogue

To solve the security of access to meta-data in computational Grids, by modifying model BLP, a secure access model named GBLP is introduced to support access control to Grid catalogue. In the computational Grid, resources and users can be endowed with different secure levels. Because Grid catalogue is a logic map of all physical resources, and then, when different secure levels are assigned to ...
